桂林是个多民族聚居的地区，壮族、瑶族、侗族、苗族、彝族等少数民族在这里和睦相处，流传下许多优美的舞蹈、动听的歌谣。每年的三月三，是广西地区盛大的歌圩日，少数民族同胞相聚在桂林阳朔，用欢快的旋律、轻盈的舞姿表达对爱情、对幸福生活的憧憬和向往。

Every lunar March 3rd is the biggest Singing Festival in Guangxi region. Fellow minorities gather in Yangshuo, Guilin, and express their yearnings for love and happiness with cheerful songs and gentle dances.

公元前221年，秦始皇统一中原后，挥师五十万南征百越。秦军一到，立即遭到顽强抵抗，加上岭南瘴疠横行，粮草转运困难，以致秦军遭受重创。为了统一岭南，必须尽快打通连接湘江和漓江的运粮通道，秦始皇命众将士开凿灵渠。修建灵渠的大批士兵水土不服、瘟疫横行，特别思念家乡的面。秦兵石头随军远赴桂林，没有如约而归。秦英嫂带着家乡的面，千里寻子，来到灵渠，却突遇西瓯人偷袭。石头为了保护那捧来之不易的面，被残忍杀害。为了儿子未竟的事业，秦英嫂留在灵渠，历经艰辛，用米磨面，终于做成了米粉，使得秦军士气大振，灵渠得以筑成。小小的一碗米粉，为秦始皇完成中国大一统的伟业作出了贡献。

The First Emperor of Qin commanded 500,000 soldiers southward to conquer Baiyue. Regardless of the long distance, Auntie Qin Ying looked for his son and stayed in Lingqu Canal. After unusual hardships, she made rice noodles by using rice. The little rice noodles contributed to the unification of China of the First Emperor of Qin.

“桂林山水甲天下，阅尽王府知桂林。”公元1370年，为了巩固明王朝的统治，明太祖朱元璋在桂林分封靖江王。在历代靖江王的治理下，桂林成为南通海域、北达中原的西南重镇，迎来了商贾云集、万方辐辏的繁荣景象。这一天，靖江王府落成，各友好邻邦纷纷前来祝贺。

From the year 1370, Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of Ming dynasty, assigned Guilin to Prince of Jingjiang's governance, in order to consolidate the reign of the central government. Under the governance of generations of Princes of Jingjiang, Guilin has embraced its blossom of business, welcoming merchants from all directions.
